The University of Caloocan City (UCC) – College of Engineering proudly celebrates a remarkable academic achievement after securing Top 8 and Top 10 placements at AutoMATHic 2026, an annual intercollegiate mathematics quiz competition organized by the University of the Philippines - Civil Engineering Society (UPCES).
Held on February 7, 2026, at the University of the Philippines – Los Baños, AutoMATHic 2026 gathered engineering students from institutions across the country. The competition is designed to strengthen mathematical competence and enhance analytical thinking among future engineering professionals nationwide.
UCC was represented by two teams from the Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering programs composed of its outstanding Quizzers; Mark Dandreb Albiso, Anthony Vincent Descalzo, Miles Vincent Jarlos, Marc Andrie Lañada, Joh Ruiz Leonardo, and John Marvin Oñate who upheld the university’s banner with excellence, determination, and academic integrity.
Demonstrating exceptional skill, discipline, and analytical prowess, both UCC teams advanced to the Top 25 finalists out of 66 participating teams nationwide. In the highly competitive Finals Round, Team B secured an impressive Top 8 ranking, while Team A placed Top 10 out of 51 finalist teams, positioning UCC among the country’s top-performing institutions in the competition.
Under the guidance and mentorship of their trainer, Engr. Jeffrey Cabigting, these aspiring engineers excelled in the quiz, showcasing their strong foundation in engineering principles and quick analytical thinking.
Notably, UCC’s representatives were among the youngest participants, yet they confidently competed alongside more seasoned contenders highlighting the depth of talent, strong academic preparation, and commitment to excellence fostered by the university.
