The University of Caloocan City celebrates the grand opening of its new College of Engineering at the Bagong Silang Campus today, July 29, 2024 with an event full of significance and festivity.


The inauguration commenced with a special holy mass, setting a tone of reverence and anticipation for the day ahead.


As the ceremony progressed, the vibrant performance by the Caloocan City’s CATO Band added a lively touch, captivating the audience as City Mayor Along "Dale" Gonzalo Malapitan and Congressman Oca Malapitan arrived. The event saw an enthusiastic reception with Dr. Marilyn T. De Jesus, President of UCC, delivering the opening remarks. She expressed her deep gratitude to Mayor Malapitan, acknowledging his pivotal role in transforming dreams into reality for the students and residents of Caloocan.


Mayor Along Malapitan, in his address, underscored the significance of the new college in advancing educational opportunities and community development. The inauguration was attended by a range of dignitaries, including City Officials, UCC Officials, Program Heads, faculty, students and other distinguished guests.


A symbolic turnover ceremony followed, led by representatives from Puregold Price Club Inc., the generous benefactor of the new building. The event continued with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, officially opening the doors of the new college building. Guests were then treated to a special blessing of the building, accompanied by performances from Batang Kankaloo champions Ms. Rea Gen Villareal, ABS-CBN’s TNT Season 7 Champion, and Ms. Xyrene Martinez, The Voice Kids Season 5 2nd Runner Up.


The event concluded with a closing remarks from Dr. Wenald H. Lopez, UCC’s VP of Administration and Dean of the College of Engineering, who highlighted the importance of the new college in shaping the future of engineering education in Caloocan. He also expressed his gratitude to all the people who helped and supported the preparation for the College of Engineering.


This inauguration marks a significant milestone for the University of Caloocan City, signaling a new chapter in its commitment to academic excellence and community development.
